The Rainbow Room
The Rainbow room is a morning provision which provides a nurturing environment that enables children to become the very best they can be.
It is recognised that parents / carers make a significant contribution to the education of their child and as such the Rainbow Room seeks to work in full partnership with parents.
It also provides:
- A safe, predictable, structured and highly visual environment.
- Opportunities for children to revisit early missed ‘nurturing’ experiences.
- Rainbow room staff use their expert knowledge of the pupils’ individual needs as recorded in their graduated responses, as well as their strengths, in order to adopt the most effective approach to enable pupils with SEND to access learning.
- The Rainbow room provides a modified and ambitious curriculum which is carefully designed to ensure that knowledge is taught in a developmentally sequential order. This enables regular revisiting and ‘hard wiring’ of previously learned knowledge, which supports the learning of pupils with SEND over time.
Opportunities for cooperative learning-with a particular focus on the following:
- Sharing
- Turn-taking
- Empathy
- Independence
- Meta-cognitive skills
The Rainbow room staff consistently model positive relationships whilst placing particular emphasis on the development of social, emotional and positive interaction skills.
